Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a multiethnic background. The father of Jacqueline's Elroy Fernandez is from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. There are two brothers younger than her and a older sister. The family relocated to Bahrain in the late 1980s as a result of the Lankan turmoil and she was born and raised in Bahrain. In Australia she was enrolled in Media and Communications at University of Sydney after graduating from Bahrain. As a lover of all cultures and languages she also took part in the Berlitz school of languages, where she learned to speak Spanish as well as improve her French and Arabic. In addition, she was crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6th of 2006, and then participated in Miss Universe 2006. In 2006 she won her the Miss Sri Lanka title. After that, she went into the world of television, hosting the show about Sri Lankan business known as Lanka Business Report. Padukone's father is badminton-player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has been raised both in Copenhagen and Bangalore. When she was a teenager she participated in national badminton events, but she backed off the sport and became a fashion designer. Padukone is from Mangalorean heritage and her native language is Konkani. Her ancestors come from the village of Padukone in Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district of Karnataka state, which is located in India. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is an international badminton player who retired. Her mom is a traveling agent.
